🥩 Food prices remained the primary driver of inflationary pressure. Food prices rose 25.5% year on year, compared with a 14.2% increase in goods, 9.8% in services and 8.3% in non-food products. Within the food category, meat and meat products recorded a particularly sharp 52.4% increase, including gains of 55.9% for beef and 63.6% for mutton and goat meat.

Transportation contributed a further 1.5 percentage points, or 11.3%. Imported goods also remained an important source of price pressure, accounting for 3.5 percentage points, or 26.5%, of overall inflation.
⛽ Price pressures were also evident in key household purchases. In Ulaanbaatar, the average price of one kilogram of beef reached MNT 38,293, up 55.7% from a year earlier, while the average price of AI-92 gasoline increased 9.7% year on year to MNT 2,840 per liter. 💡 Ard Insight
The July data indicate that Mongolia’s inflationary pressures are increasingly concentrated in food prices, particularly meat, rather than being evenly distributed across the consumer basket. With food, beverages and water accounting for more than half of headline inflation, elevated prices are likely to continue weighing on household purchasing power. At the same time, the size able contribution from imported goods highlights Mongolia’s continued exposure to external prices and import-related cost pressures.
